Definition of an Au pair

The meaning of the French word Au Pair is “on par” or “on equal terms”. To this end is the primary goal of our program; to provide an equal cultural exchange for young people (au pairs) and their host family in Spain.

Au Pairs come as young foreigners, between the age of 18-27 who leave their country with the desire to learn Spanish language and culture by means of living as a member of a Spanish host family. They are provided full room and board along with weekly pocket money in exchange for caring for the host family’s children by means of; babysitting, making breakfast, ironing and making bed and other simple meals along with food prep/clean up, dressing children, light housekeeping such as dusting, vacuuming, pick up/ drop off to school and help them learn to speak the au pair’s native language.

The concept of Au Pairs was established decades ago (when??) as it became a popular means by which young people are enabled to learn cross cultural experiences as well as the possibility of learning another language without expensive living costs. You are rewarded with an authentic cultural experience by living as an authentic citizen rather than a tourist.
